Factory airboxes in the tight MINI engine bay become heat-soaked after 15-20 minutes of driving, causing intake air temperature to climb and the ECU to pull timing. This carbon fiber system addresses the problem at the material level.
Prepreg carbon fiber has thermal conductivity roughly 1/40th that of aluminum, preventing heat transfer into the intake tract while avoiding heat retention issues of plastic housings.
